2026 Formula 1 calendar revealed: Madrid in Imola out! Here is the 24 race list

The highly anticipated 2026 Formula One season calendar has been officially revealed, confirming a 24-race schedule that kicks off in Melbourne in March and culminates in Abu Dhabi in December. A major highlight is the exciting return of Madrid, which last hosted an F1 race in 1981, securing a spot on the calendar from September 11-13.

The new "Madring" circuit, currently under construction, promises a unique blend of street and non-street sections. It will be the sole new venue introduced for the 2026 season. Its arrival comes at the expense of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola, which, after Max Verstappen's recent victory in May, will no longer feature on the 24-race roster. Despite Madrid's inclusion, Spain will host two races, with Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya retaining its spot for at least the next season, scheduled for June 12-14.

These calendar adjustments coincide with a pivotal year for Formula 1, as 2026 will introduce a completely new set of aerodynamics and power unit regulations. Furthermore, the sport is set to welcome new names to the grid, including the highly anticipated Cadillac team.

F1 President Stefano Domenicali expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming season: “2026 will be a new era for Formula One where we will witness a brand new set of regulations for our sport, the cars and the engines that will be powered by 100 per cent sustainable fuel. We are excited to welcome Madrid to the calendar and to see huge automotive brands like Audi, Cadillac and Ford join the Formula One grid.” He further added, "It promises to be an unforgettable season, where once again we will come together at 24 amazing global venues to watch the best drivers in the world push themselves to the limit and produce incredible wheel-to-wheel racing for our millions of fans watching around the globe.”

In a bid to optimize logistics and reduce carbon emissions, other significant changes include the repositioning of the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix from its traditional late-May slot to June 5-7. The Canadian Grand Prix will also shift from its usual June date to May 22-24, following Miami in the schedule.

The Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, home to four-time world champion Max Verstappen, is set to take place for the final time on August 21-23. The circuit made its return to the calendar in 2021 after a 35-year absence. Meanwhile, the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, is scheduled for July 3-5 in 2026.
