According to L’Equipe, Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli is eager to sign Lionel Messi once his contract with Inter Miami ends in December.
WORLD CUP PROMOTION STRATEGY
Al-Ahli had also tried to sign Messi in the summer of 2023, following his departure from PSG, but the transfer did not materialize at that time. While financial terms of the current talks have not yet been revealed, sources suggest that Saudi Arabia — host of the 2034 FIFA World Cup — is determined to use major signings like Messi to boost its global football profile.

Champions of the AFC Champions League, Al-Ahli has reportedly been in negotiations with Messi’s camp for several weeks. Meanwhile, Inter Miami is hoping to retain the legendary forward after two seasons in MLS.
