Novak Djokovic once again demonstrated his enduring dominance on the clay courts of Roland Garros, registering a significant milestone by achieving his 100th singles match win at the tournament. The Serbian maestro cruised past Britain's Cameron Norrie with a convincing 6-2, 6-3, 6-2 victory, securing his passage into the quarter-finals.
This monumental achievement places Djokovic in an elite club, as he becomes only the second male player in history, alongside Rafael Nadal, to reach a century of singles victories at the prestigious clay-court Grand Slam. His relentless consistency is further highlighted by his astonishing feat of reaching his 16th consecutive quarter-final in Paris.
At 38 years old, Djokovic's longevity at the highest level is truly exceptional; he is now the oldest male quarter-finalist at Roland Garros since 1970. This latest triumph also extends his flawless record in French Open fourth-round matches to an unblemished 19-0.
'It is a good number'
Following his commanding performance, Djokovic expressed his satisfaction with his form. "I feel good, I expect each day to play better and better. I’ve played 12 really good, solid sets so far and everything is looking good," he commented. When questioned about reaching the 100-win mark at Roland Garros, he acknowledged it as "a good number."
The reigning 24-time Grand Slam champion, however, quickly shifted his focus to the next challenge. He described the century mark as "a happy number for me, but the 101st victory is the most important for me now." Djokovic also expressed his pleasure in contributing to the history of a court that has given him so much, voicing his hope for "another victory for me in a couple of days."
Norrie, despite his efforts, was unable to pose a significant challenge to the in-form Serb. Djokovic's straight-sets victory sets up a highly anticipated quarter-final clash against last year's runner-up, Alexander Zverev, promising a captivating encounter in the next round.
