Fenerbahce interested in Angel Gomes in transfer market, Rashford also an option

In the midst of many ongoing talks with star players, Fenerbahce have made significant progress on two major targets.

Interest in Szymanski

Fenerbahçe’s midfielder Sebastian Szymanski had a controversial moment during the Eyüpspor match when he was booed while being subbed off leading to an angry reaction and early departure to the locker room. Polish journalist Mateusz Borek reported that Lazio and Feyenoord are both interested in the 26 year old. Adding to speculation, Szymanski recently changed his profile picture on social media, removing his Fenerbahçe kit.

Rashford back on the agenda

Marcus Rashford has once again emerged as a transfer target for Fenerbahçe. The English forward was previously linked with the club during the winter window, but ultimately chose a loan move to Aston Villa due to Champions League considerations. However, Villa are reportedly not planning to make the deal permanent.

Chance of a deal

According to reports in the British media, Rashford is expected to return to Manchester United but will likely leave again on loan. Tottenham are said to be the front-runners, but Fenerbahçe remains in contention especially if they can secure a Champions League spot. If the club can convince Rashford of their project and their ambition to reach the group stage, a loan move could be sealed earlier. However, Manchester United are insisting on a mandatory purchase clause in any potential loan agreement.

Angel Gomes to midfield

Angel Gomes, once regarded as one of Manchester United’s most talented academy players, was handed his debut in 2017 by none other than Jose Mourinho himself. After his contract expired, Gomes signed with Lille in 2020, where he has impressed even earning four England caps. Much like teammate Jonathan David, the 24 year old has announced that he won’t be renewing his contract with Lille and will leave at the end of the season.
