Premier League club Fulham has reportedly entered the fray to sign Brazilian forward Romulo, currently playing for Turkish Süper Lig side Göztepe, based in İzmir. David Ornstein of The Athletic has indicated that Fulham is keen to secure the services of the 23-year-old, who has become a highly sought-after talent across Europe following a sensational 2024-25 season.
Romulo's impressive campaign saw him contribute a remarkable 17 goals and 10 assists in 33 matches across all competitions, including a memorable hat-trick away against İstanbul giants Beşiktaş, significantly boosting his profile. This stellar form has not gone unnoticed, attracting a host of suitors including German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, Dutch Eredivisie club Feyenoord, fellow Turkish giants Fenerbahçe, and Russian Premier League outfit Zenit Saint Petersburg. It is understood that multiple offers have already been submitted, and talks with Göztepe are ongoing.
Fulham has reportedly tabled a concrete proposal for Romulo, worth €16 million plus add-ons and a sell-on clause. However, this initial bid was rejected by Göztepe, who are holding out for a fee in excess of €20 million for the former Athletico Paranaense player.
While other Premier League teams also have Romulo high on their recruitment wishlists, they have yet to make formal approaches with the same level of intent as Fulham and RB Leipzig, who are actively working on strengthening their attacking options for the upcoming season.
Romulo initially joined Göztepe on a loan deal from Athletico Paranaense in February 2024, before making the move permanent in January 2025, quickly establishing himself as a key player for the İzmir-based club.
Fulham's interest in Romulo comes after a season where Raul Jiminez finished as their top scorer with 12 Premier League goals in 36 appearances, while Rodrigo Muniz also contributed with eight goals in the top flight. The potential addition of Romulo would undoubtedly provide a significant boost to Fulham's attacking firepower as they look to build on their previous campaign. The battle for Romulo's signature is expected to intensify, with Fulham facing stiff competition from clubs across Europe, including local interest from Fenerbahçe right here in İstanbul.
