Leeds United is reportedly showing strong interest in securing the services of Union Saint-Gilloise striker Promise David ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window. The newly promoted Whites have reportedly identified the 23-year-old Canadian forward as a key potential reinforcement for Daniel Farke’s attacking line, as they prepare for their return to the Premier League.
Promise David has had an impressive campaign, notably scoring 22 goals and providing five assists in 40 appearances. His prolific form recently earned him a first call-up to the Canada national squad in March. This "outstanding" performance has garnered him significant attention, with several other European clubs reportedly monitoring his situation. Among the admirers are fellow Premier League side Brighton and French Ligue 1 club Lille, with the latter reportedly viewing him as a potential replacement for his compatriot, Jonathan David.
Union Saint-Gilloise, who acquired David from Estonian side Kalju last year, finds itself in a strong negotiating position regarding any potential transfer. The Belgian club is reportedly demanding a transfer fee of at least €20 million (approximately £17 million) for his departure in the upcoming window. Despite ongoing discussions about extending his contract in Belgium, David has reportedly indicated to Union SG officials that he is receptive to offers from clubs abroad this summer.
Leeds United is anticipating a busy period in the transfer market following their recent promotion. The Elland Road outfit aims to bolster Daniel Farke’s squad by bringing in more experienced players to solidify their presence in the top flight. In line with this strategy, the Whites are also reportedly showing keen interest in West Ham full-back Vladimir Coufal, whose contract at the London Stadium is nearing its expiry. Leeds has reportedly made an enquiry for the 32-year-old defender, but they face competition from Everton, where manager David Moyes is said to be eager for a reunion with Coufal.
Promise David's impressive goal-scoring record and his openness to a move abroad make him a highly sought-after prospect, setting the stage for potential competition for his signature as the summer transfer window approaches.
