Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho, with whom Fenerbahce parted ways, has signed with Benfica. In the club's statement, it was noted that a 2-year contract was signed with the 62-year-old coach. Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mourinho said: "I made a mistake by going to Fenerbahçe, but I gave everything until the last day. Coaching Benfica means returning to my level."
'THINGS WERE EASY IN FENERBAHÇE'
Mourinho spoke about his Fenerbahce career
"Things were easy at Fenerbahce. I wanted to play with four but the club signed five players after I left. This was not possible when I was there. You have to adapt to the situation and I adapt. I have praised Benfica's squad and I will do it again. I thought Benfica did a great job in the transfer window and it was a team I liked a lot. I am not a good example of fair play, but I am better. It was not easy for me to congratulate Benfica and Bruno Lage. Benfica had good players, a good manager, but that's life."

'MOURINHO SHOULD PAY COMPENSATION'
Milliyet Newspaper's Atilla Gökçe wrote that Fenerbahçe has a right to get a compensation for the words of the Portuguese coach.
Atilla Gökçe's article published in Milliyet with the title 'Mourinho should pay compensation to F.Bahçe' is as follows
Jose Mourinho's career stories are written not with his successes in football, but with disappointments and failures. Mourinho cannot cooperate with the managers and players in the teams he coaches. He cannot convince them. The way he plays is not liked by football fans, and there are reactions. Mourinho, who signed with Benfica in a hurry after leaving Fenerbahçe, caused ethical problems that are difficult to explain after the yellow-lacivertli team was eliminated from the Champions League with a 1-0 defeat to the same team.
The Portuguese coach's critical messages against President Ali Koç and his management by highlighting the failure of the transfers he wanted the day before the match were considered as an example of 'inappropriate behavior' by those who watched the events. It was also suggested that this had a 'devaluing' effect on the Fenerbahçe players who were waiting for the match and hurt the team's self-confidence. I should immediately point out that these are not allegations made by Fenerbahçe's executives in charge, but the statements of impartial, cool-headed and internationally experienced experts.

The following words of FIFA and UEFA honorary member Şenes Erzik can serve as an example: "Mourinho is a man without manners. When I was honored with special gifts in Bahrain after the FIFA meeting in Mexico, it was a shame that he sat in the seat reserved for me and didn't show any interest. His move from Fenerbahçe to Benfica is also full of ethical mistakes. The necessary reaction must be shown."
I also spoke to a legal sportsman who has worked at UEFA. Considered one of the most authoritative people in his field, he said: "There is no need for discussion. Fenerbahçe has the right to file a complaint and demand compensation. Fenerbahçe can file a lawsuit in one of the Civil Courts of First Instance in Istanbul and demand compensation from Mourinho. If the judiciary decides that Mourinho must pay compensation and this judgment becomes final, he will be obliged to pay. If the Portuguese coach fails to pay, the case will go to FIFA. Fenerbahçe must defend this right!"
I am presenting a file to be opened on the desk of President Ali Koç and the Board of Directors.
