Ronaldo remarks by his former teammate! A selfish mentality

In a chat with Rio Ferdinand, Rooney highlighted Ronaldo's selfish mentality when describing his playing style.

Asked if he had softened some aspects of his game to allow Ronaldo to shine, Rooney admitted that he had, but emphasized that it was always team-oriented.

'Not once did I think I had to sacrifice. Yes, sometimes it looked and felt like it, but I wanted to win, I wanted to win the Premier League, I wanted to win the Champions League. Cristiano Ronaldo has something in his brain that I don't think anyone else has. He has a mentality and mindset far beyond anything I've ever seen in football.

'A SELFISH MENTALITY'

He then summarized the sharp contrast between their approaches: 'My mentality and my mindset is not at that level, it's at the level where I want to win. I never cared about the Ballons d'Or or the individual trophies, for me it's nothing, I don't give a damn. I wanted to win with you (Rio) and with my teammates. Of course Cristiano also wanted to win all this with the team, but he had a selfish mentality where he wanted everything. I didn't have that mentality.'
