Iga Swiatek continues to cement her status as the queen of clay, breezing into the third round of Roland-Garros with 6-1, 6-2 win over Emma Raducanu. The victory marks Swiatek’s 21st straight appearance in the third round of a Grand Slam—an unmatched feat in the modern era.
From the outset, Swiatek displayed complete control, executing a precise game plan that left Raducanu little room to maneuver. With relentless pressure and powerful baseline play, the world No. 5 dictated the tempo, extending her perfect head-to-head record against the 2021 US Open champion to 5-0, without dropping a single set across their meetings.
Swiatek said: “From the beginning, I knew what I wanted to do, so I just did it. I had a good time on the court, and I felt the game pretty well, so I just went for it.”
Swiatek’s sharpness and consistency were evident throughout, as she dismantled Raducanu’s defenses with clinical ease. While Raducanu showed flashes of resilience, she struggled to find openings against Swiatek’s aggressive rhythm and tight angles.
The Brit admitted post-match that the relentless pressure forced her into errors, highlighting areas of her game still in need of development:
“Like, you just don’t really feel like there is that much space on the court, and certain moments you overhit, because you just feel constant pressure. I definitely think, like, I can improve certain areas of my game to maybe make me feel like I have less holes.”
With this win, Swiatek now faces Romanian Jaqueline Cristian in the next round.
