The Domenico Tedesco era has officially started in Fenerbahce! Reported to PDP

After parting ways with Jose Mourinho, Fenerbahçe has appointed Italian coach Domenico Tedesco as technical director for 2 years. The Italian coach last coached the Belgian national team and parted ways with Leipzig 3 years ago.

Here is the statement made to KAP;

Domenico Tedesco has been appointed as the Technical Director of our club's Professional Football A Team.

A 2-year contract has been agreed upon and Gökhan Gönül, one of our former captains who wore our striped jersey for many years, will be assisted by the new coach.

Details regarding the signing ceremony of our new technical team will be shared later.

GÖKHAN GÖNÜL SURPRISE

After Domenico Tedesco became the new technical director at Fenerbahçe, it was claimed that there would be a Turkish coach in the technical team. Legendary footballer Gökhan Gönül, who once played for Fenerbahçe, will be Tedesco's assistant. Gönül has previously worked for the national team.

Last team BelgiumDomenico Tedesco coached the Belgium national team between February 2023 and January 2025. Tedesco, who achieved 10 wins and 4 draws in his first 14 matches in Belgium, suffered his first defeat against France in the last 16 round of the 2024 European Championship.In the UEFA Nations League, the desired results could not be achieved. In his first season, the blue-and-whites finished second in the Bundesliga with 63 points behind Bayern Munich and qualified directly for the UEFA Champions League. The following season, Schalke under Tedesco, who started the league season with consecutive defeats, finished second in the group that included Galatasaray with 11 points and was eliminated by Manchester City in the last 16 round. With the defeats in February and March, the Italian coach parted ways.Domenico Tedesco took charge of Russian team Spartak Moscow in October of the 2019-2020 season, finishing 7th in the league with 39 points in his first season.
