Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç has provided an exciting update on the club's transfer plans and future aspirations, confirming a new push to sign a midfielder. In a meeting with club members ahead of the upcoming presidential election, Koç was asked about the team’s current needs.
"We all want a number 8," Koç stated. He revealed that a deal for Yves Bissouma was close before the Tottenham player suffered an injury. "We want a smart number 8. Someone who can intelligently distribute the ball and play box-to-box. Our work on a young player is ongoing. At Fenerbahçe, transfers aren't over until the very last minute. We will push the conditions until the end."
Koç also addressed the club’s recent success and his vision for the future. He described the current squad as the "strongest in our history," highlighting how the team's market value has increased from €125 million to €315 million. "We went from having Kameni to Ederson," he said, emphasizing the rise in quality.
In a rallying cry for the upcoming season, Koç stressed the importance of unity among fans and vowed to bring an end to the club’s title drought. "Our biggest debt to this community isn't the Banks Association, it's the championship debt. We will pay this debt," he stated.
Koç also touched on the club's financial independence, saying it is "on the verge" of being achieved, thanks to approved projects. He challenged his opponents in the election, saying, "If I were in the opposition's place, I would also want to be a candidate for this Fenerbahçe, whose economy has improved."
